Trump-Allied Media Previously Attacked His Debate Guest, Malik Obama, For Alleged Ties To Extremist Groups

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump announced that President Barack Obama’s half-brother, Malik Obama, will be his personal guest at the final presidential debate in Las Vegas. The choice highlights an unusual division between Trump and some of the right-wing media outlets he often relies on, who have for years accused Malik Obama of having alleged ties to various extremist groups in a fringe effort to smear President Obama.

Trump Invites President Obama’s Half-Brother To Final Presidential Debate As Candidate’s Personal Guest

Time Magazine: “Donald Trump Is Bringing President Obama’s Half-Brother To The Third Debate.” According to Time magazine, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has invited President Obama’s half-brother, Malik Obama, to “be the candidate’s guest” at the final presidential debate. Barack Obama’s half-brother Malik will show his support for Donald Trump at the third presidential debate on Wednesday.



The Kenyan-born man, who is also a U.S. citizen, announced in July he would vote for the Republican nominee. Now he tells the New York Post he is “excited” to attend the debate in Las Vegas and believes Trump “can make America Great Again.” Trump tells the Post his guest “gets it far better than his brother.”

For Years, Right-Wing Media Have Alleged That Malik Obama Has Links To Terror Organizations

Wash. Times: A Photo Of Malik Obama Shows “Him Wearing A Special Scarf Emblazoned With Anti-Israel Slogans Used By The Terror Group Hamas.” A 2014 Washington Times article alleged that Malik Obama wore a “Hamas scarf bearing anti-Israel slogans” at a 2010 event in Yemen. A photo of President Obama’s half-brother, Malik, who served as the best man at his brother’s wedding, has surfaced showing him wearing a special scarf emblazoned with anti-Israel slogans used by the terror group Hamas.

The photo was taken in 2010 at an event in Yemen and posted on the website of the Barack H. Obama Foundation, a group founded by Malik that is unaffiliated with the president. The Gateway Pundit: “Barack Obama’s Brother Malik Joins Hamas Terrorist Group.” The Gateway Pundit’s Jim Hoft wrote a January 2014 post that alleged, “while Obama prepares for this sixth State of the Union Address his brother Malik hanging with Hamas terrorists.” Hoft added that Malik Obama “was even pictured in a scarf reading ‘There is no Israel.’” [The Gateway Pundit, 1/28/14]

The Gateway Pundit: Reports Say Malik Obama “Is Headed For Egypt’s Terror Watch List,” And There Is “Evidence Mounting For His Involvement With The Muslim Brotherhood.” The Gateway Pundit alleged in 2013 that, “Egyptian media reported proof that” President Obama himself “is a Muslim Brotherhood member,” and that his half-brother Malik “is headed for Egypt’s Terror Watch List.” The Gateway Pundit highlighted accusations by Walid Shoebat who urged readers to remember “all the evidence mounting for [Malik’s] involvement with the Muslim Brotherhood.” From the September 6, 2013 blog:

WND: “New Evidence” Links Malik Obama “To The Muslim Brotherhood In Egypt.” Right-wing blog WND pointed to Walid Shoebat’s allegations in 2013 to claim that Malik Obama was “linked to [the] Muslim Brotherhood,” and suggest that Malik Obama had “oversight of the Muslim Brotherhood’s international investments.” WND also pointed to allegations that Malik is “a wife-beater and philanderer.” From the August 20, 2013 article:

Malik is accused of seducing Sheila, the newest of his estimated 12 wives when she was a 17-year-old schoolgirl – a crime in Kenya, where the legal age of consent is 18. [WND, 8/20/13]

WND: Malik Obama Was Pictured “Wearing A Hamas Scarf That Declares The Palestinian Organization’s Aim Of Destroying Israel.” WND also hyped the 2014 allegations that Malik wore a “Hamas scarf,” adding that it “tells only part of the story of Malik’s role in the violent advance of Islam.” From the January 29, 2014 article:

The Daily Caller: Malik Obama “Had A Close Relationship With Libyan Dictator Muammar Gadhafi.” According to The Daily Caller’s Charles Johnson, Malik Obama “had a close relationship with Libyan dictator Muammar Gadhafi that continued from the 1980s until the dictator’s death.” Johnson notes that Malik “Obama was a vocal supporter of the Libyan dictator and once interceded with his brother on Gadhafi’s behalf during the Libyan civil war.” From the July 17, 2013, article:

WND: “Obama Brother Partners with Polygamist Cult.” WND’s Jerome Corsi claimed that Malik Obama’s nonprofit organization had “a partnership with the House of Yahweh, a [polygamist] cult headed by Yisrayl Hawkins,” and allegedly “expressed his support for the cult’s proposal to build the Third Temple in Jerusalem in fulfillment of biblical prophecy.” From the April 16, 2014, article:

As WND reported Wednesday, Malik Obama’s nonprofit, Barack H. Obama Foundation, has a partnership with the House of Yahweh, a cult headed by Yisrayl Hawkins. Malik plans to be in Abilene, Texas, Friday to attend a conference hosted by Hawkins.

Malik Obama, a professing Muslim, embraced Yisrayl Hawkins’ proposal to build the Third Temple next to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, or Dome of the Rock, in a Nov. 16, 2010, address to the First Annual Global Council of Peace in Washington, D.C., sponsored by the House of Yahweh. [WND, 4/16/14]
