While discussing Rick Perry's recent comments dismissing the science supporting human-induced climate change and Jon Huntsman's criticism of those remarks, Fox & Friends Sunday host Clayton Morris mentioned an important point:
MORRIS: If you dive into the weeds a little bit on this global warming thing, you see that it seems that facts are certainly on Huntsman's side on all of this and fact checkers have come out, and we're actually having our own brain room look at this right now and any of Perry's comments don't seem to hold a lot of water.
But wait, where was Fox's “brain room” when Fox & Friends set out to debunk man-made global warming just a couple of weeks ago? Where was Fox's “brain room” on July 4 when Fox & Friends hosted chronic misinformer Joe Bastardi to call greenhouse gases "plant food"? And where was Fox's “brain room” when Fox & Friends used winter snow to ask "What Global Warming?"
The same Fox & Friends that repeatedly attacked SpongeBob SquarePants for promoting the “disputed fact” of man-made global warming, is now saying:
JULIET HUDDY: It's kind of weird that we are talking about global warming. Don't you think? With everything that's going on?
Does Morris's acknowledgment of the facts on climate change signal a major shift in Fox' science coverage? Not likely. Immediately after noting that Perry's claims “don't seem to hold a lot of water,” Morris said it “doesn't matter”:
MORRIS: But it doesn't matter because what's resonating right now in South Carolina is helping governor Perry tremendously and he fired back at Huntsman on global warming and it's gaining traction, facts or not.
