Fox covered up House Republicans' role in cutting funding for diplomatic security in order to blame the Obama administration over the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

Discussing the attack in Libya, Fox & Friends co-host Gretchen Carlson appealed to viewers to think about “those last final hours of our ambassador over there, wondering and asking for security and not getting it.” As Carlson spoke, on-screen text claimed that the White House's security tactics had been “heavily criticized.”

Moments later, Fox & Friends hosted Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) who, along with most other House Republicans, voted in 2011 and 2012 to give the State Department far less than it requested for embassy and consulate security.

Chaffetz attacked the Obama administration for supposedly having insufficient security in Benghazi. But Chaffetz's vote to cut embassy security did not even come up during the interview.

A key surrogate for the Romney presidential campaign, Chaffetz has led the charge in attacking the Obama administration for not keeping embassies more secure. However, the State Department has said that “no reasonable security presence could have successfully fended” off the attack.
