STEVE DOOCY (CO-HOST): So, what the former mayor makes very clear is Trump personally reimbursed Michael Cohen, which is to suggest there absolutely are no campaign violations.
BRIAN KILMEADE (CO-HOST): Well, on top of that, so that is huge news because the president said on Air Force One, “I knew nothing about it.” Rudy -- the mayor says, “listen, it's not unusual for him not to know anything about it.” He says, “I do this for my clients, I'll take care of things. I don't inform them on everything.” And the way they get paid back is their retainer fee. Sooner or later they get paid back. He said, “this is clear,” he said he's seen the material, the receipts. Nothing was done through campaign funds, so therefore it gets rid of the campaign violation.
But Michael Avenatti, who continues to be perpetually tan and appearing nonstop on other channels, he says I'm rarely, as your viewers know, rendered speechless. But I'm absolutely speechless as this revelation -- this is an outrage, this has gone on here. The American people have been lied to about this agreement.
I have news for, you the American people don't care about this agreement. There's a reason why the president's approval ratings are ticking up. Because he's productive at his job and this is a distraction without somebody -- who's claiming the main thrust of their complaint is that they want to tell their story, which they're doing, and she's making at least $75,000 an appearance now.
AINSLEY EARHARDT: Right, I agree with you. Personal funds were used allegedly, according to Rudy. So he didn't violate the campaign finance, which means no felonies were committed. And he said the president didn't know specifics of it. Unspecified expenses were written on the receipts, and the money was paid back $35,000 a month in retainer. But I agree with you, Brian, American people care about North Korea, what's happening in Iran, food on their table, paying for college, border security.
KILMEADE: Trade war.
EARHARDT: Those bonuses.
DOOCY: And ultimately what the mayor is doing, and now he is part of the legal team, this is very aggressive, and said, “look, this whole story might be embarrassing to the president of the United States, but no laws were broken.” We're going to be talking to Rudy in about an hour and ten minutes right here.
EARHARDT: He said they're treating -- they're treating this president worse than they did Bill Clinton, and Bill Clinton lied under oath.
BRIAN: Right, no one cares about Stormy Daniels.
