Fox's Doocy Falsely Claims Clinton Used A Computer Without A Password As Secretary Of State

Fox host Steve Doocy falsely claimed that Hillary Clinton used a computer in her office while she served as secretary of state that did not have a password. Doocy inaccurately cited a deposition from a former State Department aide given to the conservative activist organization Judicial Watch, claiming it showed “Hillary Clinton had a standalone computer in her office that did not have a password on it.” In fact, that aide, Lewis Lukens, actually said in the deposition that, while he offered a desktop computer to Clinton that would not have had a password, the proposed computer was declined and never set up. From the May 27 edition of Fox News' Fox & Friends:

BRIAN KILMEADE (CO-HOST): And the first thing Hillary Clinton’s got to do is get rid of Bernie Sanders. But right first and foremost, she has to deal with her email scandal. And now it is becoming a real problem. You want to categorize it as a witch hunt for Republicans against a Democrat in Hillary Clinton, a right-wing conspiracy? You really can't do it. An inspector general concluded that she was way out-of-bounds and way out of line when she used her private server for State Department work and her changes and explanations are continuing to evolve. Remember at first she set up the server because she didn't want to carry two devices. Then she didn't want government email to be put in with her personal email. Now she's saying -- I was never comfortable using a computer. So she wasn't comfortable using a desktop email, only comfortable with BlackBerry computers. 

STEVE DOOCY (CO-HOST): And meanwhile in a deposition for Judicial Watch, it was revealed yesterday that apparently Hillary Clinton had a standalone computer in her office that did not have a password on it.

AINSLEY EARHARDT (CO-HOST): Wow.

DOOCY: So that opens you up to hacking.
