Previously, Glenn Beck has worried that the toppling of Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak will lead to a new Islamic caliphate or a global communist takeover (or both). One might wonder what could be more despicable than attacking protests against a dictator like Mubarak. Beck has now supplied the answer: He's warning against the toppling of Libyan strongman Muammar Gadhafi.

Beck tried to inoculate himself from claims that he's defending Gadhafi: “I personally think Muammar Gadhafi looks like Scar from The Lion King, and he has a worse personality. It's difficult to have any warm and tender feelings for the crazy man Muammar Gadhafi.” But it's hard to escape the conclusion that Beck thinks that overthrowing Gadhafi would do more harm than good based on the rest of the show.

Early in the hour, Beck connected the protests in Libya to protests against union-busting legislation in Wisconsin and Ohio. (Beck is not enamored of these protests.) Referencing a statement calling for Gadhafi's assassination by the head of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, Beck calls the people in Libya “pawns in a violent power struggle.”

Beck also said we should be thinking about U.S. gas prices: “It's about how much cash gets pulled off your debit card every time you go and try to fill your gas tank.” He added: “What happens if the Muslim Brotherhood is successful in Libya? How high is the gas? Who's their next target? What's to stop them from saying 'take out the regime in Saudi Arabia too.' Again, I'm no fan of the Saudi Arabia regime.”

Beck said that these protests actually herald the "perfect storm" and the collapse of the American economy and the coming “New World Order.” Beck also hosted Fox News' Eric Bolling and Charles Payne to talk about the possible dire financial consequences of a revolution in Egypt.

It's buried in a lot of conspiracy theory mumbo jumbo, but watching Beck tonight, it's hard to escape the conclusion that Beck would rather have Libya and its oil supply remain stable than allow a brutal, anti-American, and anti-Israel dictator like Gadhafi to be toppled.
