Pollock: Negotiations with Iran are“a dereliction of the president's fundamental constitutional duty”

On Fox News' The Journal Editorial Report, Wall Street Journal editorial board member Robert Pollock said that “at some point, we're going to have to come to a realization that negotiations” with Iran over that country's apparent nuclear programs and apparent pursuit of nuclear weapons are “not responsible” as a course of action but are, “in fact, a dereliction of the president's fundamental duty, which is to defend the American people.”

On the June 3 edition of Fox News' The Journal Editorial Report, Wall Street Journal editorial board member Robert Pollock said that “at some point, we're going to have to come to a realization that negotiations” with Iran over that country's nuclear programs and apparent pursuit of nuclear weapons are not “a responsible course of action” but are, “in fact, a dereliction of the president's fundamental duty, which is to defend the American people.” Pollack made those remarks during a roundtable discussion about the decision by the Bush administration to join international negotiations with Iran with the intention of persuading the country to cease development of its nuclear program.

From the June 3 edition of Fox News' The Journal Editorial Report:

POLLOCK: Yeah. And look, I'd like to challenge the fundamental assumption that the administration is still buying into here, which is that negotiations are somehow the responsible course of action here. I mean, that may be true for a certain period of time. But given what we know, which is that this is the number-one state sponsor of terrorism in the world determined to acquire a nuclear bomb, at some point we're going to have to come to a realization that negotiations are not responsible but, in fact, a dereliction of the president's fundamental constitutional duty, which is to defend the American people.
