In the confusion following the 5.8 magnitude earthquake that sent tremors across the east coast this afternoon, two Fox News hosts had very different ideas on how to report the seismic event.
During America Live, host Megyn Kelly accentuated sensationalist reporting about the Washington Monument tilting and evacuations occurring around Washington, D.C. Watch:
Right after America Live ended, Kelly's colleague Shepard Smith began his show by criticizing the “sense of panic” he had been witnessing. Smith said that evacuations were being done out of an abundance of caution. Furthermore, Smith said: “All of this people evacuating in the pictures seems to be ratcheting up a sense of panic that is completely unnecessary and absolutely counterproductive.” Smith added: “In a Twitter, Facebook world we have no pictures of any damage anywhere.” Watch:
