Soon after Media Matters reported on Sean Hannity's plans to broadcast his show tonight from inside a paid Tea Party event in Cincinnati, and less than a day after my findings that numerous journalism ethicists were condemning the idea, Fox News has canceled the plan and reportedly ordered him back to New York.
The Los Angeles Times writes: “Angry Fox News executives ordered host Sean Hannity to abandon plans to broadcast his nightly show as part of a Tea Party rally in Cincinnati on Thursday after top executives learned that he was set to headline the event, proceeds from which would benefit the local Tea Party organization.”
The Times also noted that Fox would conduct a review of just how this happened. Maybe they are on the road to ethical improvements. Or maybe they are just trying to do some damage control.
Either way, nice we could show the truth.
