EMILY COMPAGNO (CO-HOST): Well, midnight tonight is the deadline for federal employees to accept President Trump's buyout offer. Now, according to the White House, workers would continue to be paid through September if they accept the deferred resignation offer. Now, at least 40,000 federal workers have signed on that dotted line. But Democrats are relentlessly urging workers not to take the deal, going as far as calling it, quote a, wait for it, "a constitutional crisis." Gerri, so there's nothing unconstitutional about this, actually. And many of the people I've talked to among different agencies are taking this offer. Those that were sort of close to retirement, approaching, for example December and the like. So, it's actually a sweet deal, and I'm not quite sure the argument that this isn't, by trimming the fat, helping efficiency.
GERRI WILLIS (FOX BUSINESS REPORTER): OK, so just apply economic logic. And I'm sorry for bringing up the numbers, but a dollar you get today is worth more than a dollar you get next year or the year after that or the month after that. OK? That's how it works, you can put that money to work, you can save and invest it, go get another job, double dip. It's only economically intelligent to take the dough and run. That's my view. If these folks had an economic advisor sitting next to them, they'd be like, take the money. Take the money, and then go get a real job that might pay you more.
