JOHN ROBERTS (ANCHOR): Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth doubling down on his claim that no war plans were shared on a Signal chat and that no classified information went to a reporter for The Atlantic. Our chief national security correspondent Jennifer Griffin live at the Pentagon to break down what actually constitutes war plans and classified information.

JENNIFER GRIFFIN (CHIEF NATL SECURITY CORRESPONDENT): Well, John, for a second straight day, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth traveling in the Philippines would not take questions from the traveling press on the issue of whether he shared classified information in an insecure group text chat just hours before U.S. air strikes on the Houthis began on March 15th, putting the lives of U.S. service members and pilots in danger.

GRIFFIN: Hegseth continues to be dogged by questions about why he shared specific operational details two hours before the strikes on Signal. Current and former U.S. defense officials I surveyed agreed "war plans" is not the right term, but what was shared may have been far more sensitive given the operational details and timestamps ahead of the operation. "These were attack orders, which are far more sensitive than war plans. This information was clearly classified," according to a former senior defense official who oversaw these types of air strikes. The president continues to defend Hegseth.
