STUART VARNEY (HOST): Brad, if that border is closed, there is enormous disruption economically. There is chaos on both sides of the border. Is it worth it?

BRAD BLAKEMAN (REPUBLICAN POLITICAL CONSULTANT): Yes it is. We have crisis on the border, a humanitarian crisis. And now we have to put the heat on Mexico and others that trade through Mexico. We wouldn't have a crisis but for Mexico not controlling their southern border. So, the border is not going to be closed in one day, it's going to be ratcheted if at all, if that decision is made. But now is time to put the pressure on Mexico. I think the president is doing the right thing.

VARNEY: But the first thing that happens if there's a closure of any kind, you know, avocados disappear from the grocery store -- maybe strawberries, maybe tomatoes, other produce. We get a lot of produce from Mexico. The screams would be immediate from consumers. Again, is it worth it, politically, is it worth it?

BLAKEMAN: Yes it is because leaders have to take a chance. There isn't a leader that has done great things to our country and for our country, that has been appreciated in it's time. It's only after time you can take a full appreciation through history of what they've done. So a leader is required to make tough decisions. Now, I will sacrifice my avocados to have a safe border. And it's about time Americans in this generation were subjected to sacrifice. Only through sacrifice can you appreciate what we have. We have a crisis on the border, it must be fixed, our president is addressing it. I'm full speed ahead of our president.
