O'Reilly Factor guest host and former Rep. John Kasich (R-OH) falsely claimed that 2004 presidential candidate Sen. John F. Kerry (D-MA) lost “every place that Bruce [Springsteen] went,” referring to the Vote for Change tour and Kerry rally concerts leading up to the election. In fact, Springsteen performed in a total of six states, four of which -- Pennsylvania, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin -- Kerry carried in the election, as well as the District of Columbia, where Springsteen also performed.

During the April 4 broadcast of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor, guest host and former Rep. John Kasich (R-OH) falsely claimed that 2004 presidential candidate Sen. John F. Kerry (D-MA) lost “every place that Bruce [Springsteen] went,” referring to the Vote for Change tour, for which the singer headlined many dates, and Kerry rally concerts leading up to the election. In fact, Springsteen performed in a total of six states, four of which -- Pennsylvania, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin -- Kerry carried in the election. Springsteen also performed in the District of Columbia, which went for Kerry. Springsteen performed three times in Ohio and once in Florida; both states were carried by Bush.
Springsteen's election performances:
Vote for Change Tour
October 1, 2004 -- Philadelphia
October 2-- Cleveland, Ohio
October 3 -- Detroit, Michigan
October 5 -- St. Paul, Minnesota
October 8 -- Orlando, Florida
October 11 -- Washington, D.C.
Kerry rallies
October 28, 2004 -- Madison, Wisconsin
October 28 -- Columbus, Ohio
November 1 -- Cleveland, Ohio
From a discussion with Democratic strategist Kirsten Powers and Creative Coalition executive director Robin Bronk about the entertainment industry's role in progressive political mobilization, on the April 4 edition of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor:
BRONK: And looking at the past couple of campaigns, what are they going to do differently, and how is Hollywood going to make an impact?
KASICH: Well, you know, we had Springsteen over on the Oval at Ohio State, he's singing a storm. He was up in Wisconsin. I think every place that Bruce went, you know, Kerry lost --
POWERS: Right.
KASICH: -- so maybe they ought to tell Bruce to go on tour.
