AMY KLOBUCHAR (DEMOCRATIC SENATOR): Could you talk about what trends you are seeing in LGBTQ hate crimes and ... why don't you answer that first?
KELLY ROBINSON (HUMAN RIGHTS CAMPAIGN PRESIDENT): Yeah, the reality is scary. I mean, we're sitting here seven years since the Pulse night club shooting where 49 lives were stolen, and just over seven months from the shooting at Club Q that stole five lives from the community. Um, this uptick of violence is real, you said it already, one in every five hate crimes is motivated by anti-LGBTQ+ bias. The other reality that we know is true— [SENATE HEARING AUDIO IS CUT]
HARRIS FAULKNER (HOST): And of course, we have covered, you know, a lot of what they're talking about in terms of crimes against that community, and so on and so forth. But the question that is of issue today, that they were talking about with the star athlete Riley Gaines is biological men in women's sports.
