Tonight, Fox News host Sean Hannity will interview President Donald Trump for the 13th time on his prime-time program Hannity. That's equal to the total number of interviews Trump has done on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and MSNBC combined. The interview will be Trump’s 64th nationally televised interview on a Fox-owned network since his inauguration. Fox has accounted for 79% of all his nationally televised interviews so far in 2019 and 70% of all such interviews of his presidency.
Despite recent grumblings about the network, Trump still relies on Fox to give him softballs that he can hit out of the park. Amid his recent abuse of power scandal, the network has dutifully served its role as the ultimate propaganda outlet for Trump, repeatedly lying to viewers to push back against calls for his impeachment.
And a new survey from the Public Religion Research Institute shows that Fox News has been effective at shielding and defending the president from criticism. It found that Republican respondents most loyal to the president are those who list Fox News as their primary news source -- 55% of such Republicans said that Trump could do nothing to lose their approval. Only 29% of Republicans who do not list Fox as their primary news source claimed the same.
