From the October 6 edition of WCPT's The Wayne Besen Show:
WAYNE BESEN: Hillary Clinton just came out with a new plan, platform, on guns. It's pretty extensive, and at least maybe, you'd think maybe, the media would pay attention to this for a change other than this ridiculous Benghazi, as we now know with Kevin McCarthy, is a big ruse. But she came out with a pretty bold plan. How are conservatives reacting to it across the media right now? And I'm guessing that they are hostile and basically distorting it.
TIMOTHY JOHNSON: Yeah they're, yeah, you're exactly right -- they're hostile and they are distorting it. The main thing that we are seeing right now is that they're trying to contrast Clinton's current plan with something she said during a 2008 debate. She was asked about states that have a requirement to register firearms, like why does New York have such a requirement but like maybe Montana doesn't. So basically what conservative media are doing, they are, they've grasped onto this remark and they're trying to distort it to somehow prove that Clinton has contradicted herself. In fact, if you look at what Clinton is advocating for, it's actually pretty much along the lines of, you know, what she has throughout her political career, and there's not ... I think there is some kind of good innovative ideas, but also I'm not, there's no kind of surprise reversal that conservative media is trying to prove she's making.
