Rep. Scott Perry turns to disgraced election denier and Project 2025 writer Peter Navarro for campaign help

Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) turned to election denier and Project 2025 writer Peter Navarro for campaign help, with Navarro calling on his followers to support Perry.

Navarro is the disgraced former Trump trade adviser who was released from federal prison in July after a four-month sentence for defying a congressional subpoena. House investigators were examining his conduct related to the attempt to delay the certification of the Electoral College votes for the 2020 election.

Navarro hosted the October 11 edition of War Room. (The show is usually hosted by Steve Bannon, but he is in prison for similarly defying a subpoena.) War Room, as Media Matters has documented, is the media home of Project 2025. Navarro himself is involved in Project 2025, having authored a section on trade.

During the interview, Navarro told viewers that “we’ve got to make sure we keep Scott Perry in the House of Representatives.” Perry responded by saying, “I won’t be silenced, right? They tried to do to me what they did to Peter.” He also asked people to “help me” by visiting his campaign website.

Media Matters has documented Perry’s embrace of extremist media, which has included sharing a social media post from an antisemitic and white nationalist account; praising and appearing with 9/11 conspiracy theorist Ken Matthews; and backing Project 2025
