On June 3, MSNBC went for the real deal, substituting Scarborough Country host Joe Scarborough, a former Republican member of Congress from Florida, with guest host John D. “J.D.” Hayworth, a current Republican member of Congress from Arizona.
Hayworth's lifetime rating from the American Conservative Union is 97 percent -- one point higher than that of House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX), whose lifetime rating is 96 percent.
Hayworth's U.S. House of Representatives online biography boasts his conservative credentials: “Since coming to Washington in 1995, J.D. has gained national attention as one of the leading conservative spokesmen in Congress. ... National Review magazine listed J.D. as one of the top ten conservative newcomers to Congress.” Hayworth has written several articles for National Review, including: "Bush Haters vs. History" and "Slander! Antiwar arguments are unfair to the president."
