On the August 7 edition of his Newsradio 850 KOA show, “Gunny” Bob Newman falsely accused The Denver Post of having “refused to cover” an August 6 pro-Israel rally, for which Newman said he served as master of ceremonies, at the state Capitol. Newman further asserted that "The Denver Post refused to provide you with information about that rally on the orders of editor Greg Moore." Newman added, "[T]his tells you a lot about the liberal media."

In fact, on August 7, the Post ran a stand-alone, above-the-fold 6 1/2" x 5" color photograph of the rally on the front page of its Denver & The West section. The picture was accompanied by the following caption:

RALLY FOR ISRAEL| Pastor Marty Gale, center, leads a gathering of about 1,000 people at the state Capitol on Sunday. The event, sponsored by Jewish and Christian groups, was to show support for Israel and the U.S. in the fight against terrorism. Groups endorsing the rally included the Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado, Faith Bible Chapel, the Jewish Community Relations Council, Church in the City and the Rocky Mountain Rabbinical Council.

NEWMAN: If you did not hear about it -- well, I know you didn't hear about it in The Denver Post, because The Denver Post refused to cover it -- but there was a gigantic rally on the west steps of the Capitol last night. I was the MC. It was the Americans Against Terrorism rally. Twenty-five hundred people showed up on the west steps of the Capitol. That's according to the Denver Police Department. That's a lot of people, in case you didn't know. It's like, “Man! Look at all these people.” And it was just a sea of Israeli and American flags, and there was all kinds of festivities and speeches and addresses. It was wonderful.

But The Denver Post refused to provide you with information about that rally on the orders of editor Greg Moore. And the Rocky Mountain News downplayed it. They said, “Well, some hundreds of people showed up.” In reality, it was thousands of people who showed up. But this tells you a lot about the liberal media. And we're going to be talking about not only just the print media, we're going to be talking about the broadcast media on the rest of the show tonight as well, because I want to know, if you had to pick a cable news channel to watch and trust the most, which would it be? Who do you watch out there on cable news and why? And what about the broadcasts -- you know, the traditional evening news -- ABC, CBS, NBC? Which ones of those do you watch, if any, and why?
