LA Times blogger/former Bush aide Jimmy Orr, on the ridiculous Biden/custard story Julie Millican debunked earlier:
A few minutes later, Biden is caught on video again telling the manager: “Why don't you say something nice instead of being a smartass all the time? Say something nice.”
The manager went on to tell a local TV reporter that the vice president went up to him later and whispered that he was just joking. The manager also said, however, it didn't appear to him that Biden appreciated the comment.
That's self-evident. You can pick that up in Biden's body language.
Now, three things Orr left out of his post:
1) When Biden said “Why don't you say something nice instead of being a smartass all the time,” the people crowded around him laughed. You know, like people do when someone makes a joke. It's right there in the video.
2) The very same news report Orr cited also contained this line: “Afterward, the manager told us he enjoyed his banter with the Vice President.” It's right there in the video.
3) The very same news report Orr cited also contained video of the manager saying of Biden: “It was very nice. He's got a great personality.” It's right there in the video.
There's a word for Jimmy Orr's characterization of the TV report: Dishonest.
And it isn't the first time Orr has misled readers about video of Joe Biden in order to make the Vice President look bad.
