Rush & Molloy, who have been dishing the dirt for the past 15 years at the Daily News of New York, ran their last column Sunday.
“We'll spare you a long reminiscence, since we did that in December 2008, when we cut back from five days a week to Sundays. But we have had some interesting encounters since then," write the married George Rush and Joanna Molloy in their final piece. “Among the people who may not mourn the column's passing are Alex Rodriguez (we wrote about his alleged affair with Manhattan madam Kristin Davis), CNN's Jeffrey Toobin and Citigroup's Richard Parsons (we discovered they'd both fathered love children), Tiger Woods (we revealed mistress Cori Rist and a pair of ladies who allegedly tried to shake him down after a three-way) and Bernie Madoff (whose wife, Ruth, reportedly learned of his extramarital affairs here)"
Media site Gawker took a look at the duo's work and their end.
“Early in the 18 months I served at Rush & Molloy, I was listening to George have a phone conversation with a person who, at the time, was among the most powerful men in the music industry,” writes former staffer Ben Widdicombe in the restrospective. “George mentioned that he was aware the figure had a daughter who was in rehab, but was not going to do an item out of respect for the fact that a child of a famous person is not necessarily a public figure themselves.”
