Bozell demands media cover completely false Sherrod story

Almost nine hours after the latest Breitbart phony allegations of Sherrod's racism were completely debunked, Newsbusters' Brent Bozell posted a blog titled “The NAACP Cries Racism.” Bozell goes on to explain in his post:

So where are all those news outlets which dutifully covered the NAACP's attacks on the Tea Party now? The network evening news and morning news shows avoided this racist video entirely on the first day.

Yes, after the media jumped all over this story, without knowing the background, Bozell is criticizing media outlets for not jumping quickly enough. Anyone who has actually followed the Sherrod non-scandal knows that the real story is how the media completely overreacted to another heavily edited video from Breitbart, causing an innocent woman to lose her job. Bozell posted his column at 11:23 PM last night, after the NAACP had posted the full video, and hours and hours after everybody else realized that not only had they been wrong on this story, they had attacked a woman for being racist without bothering to get all the facts.

Bozell's column means one of two things: 1) the founder of a media criticism organization either didn't know that the story had taken a complete reverse, or 2) he was being intentionally misleading. As a result, Bozell may have the dubious honor of being the last person to falsely accuse Sherrod of racism:

The bigger problem for the NAACP is that it has its very own racists. Andrew Breitbart's Big Government website revealed video of a [sic] NAACP banquet where U.S. Department of Agriculture appointee Shirley Sherrod talked about how she didn't want to help a white farmer because he should be helped by “his own kind.” The contempt in her voice, in her face, and in the audience's laughter is unmistakable.

[...]

Sherrod was clearly furious that her racist remarks were exposed...Sherrod screamed right back at [CNN analyst Roland Martin] that he was “clearly from a different world” than the deeply racist world she lived in.

Bozell shouldn't be expected to cover the right-wing media's complicity in hyping a story they got so wrong, but it is amazing that he would keep shouting racism long after his colleagues were busy erasing their own involvement.
