Following days of ill-informed critiques of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski acknowledged that she is excited about the prospects of what Clinton could do for women as a presidential candidate in light of beginning to read Clinton's new memoir. 

On the June 11 edition of MSNBC's Morning Joe, co-host Mika Brzezinski amended previous critiques of Hillary Clinton, noting that after beginning to read Clinton's book Hard Choices, she's “excited” about the valuable impact Clinton could have on women: 

BRZEZINSKI: I have an amendment to make to the questions I've been asking. I am excited at the prospects of what she can do for women. I really am.

Brzezinski's amendment comes after two days of highly pointed and at times ill-formed critiques of Clinton and her qualifications to potentially run for the presidency in 2016.

Earlier in the week, Brzezinski criticized the former Secretary of State's credentials, asking “what jumps out at you about Hillary Clinton except for inevitable, name value, political acumen?” The Morning Joe host went on to question Clinton's dedication to helping the middle class.

The next day, Brzezinski criticized Clinton for comments made during a June 9 interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer, in which Clinton referenced her family's “dead broke” financial situation upon leaving the White House. Brzezinski mistakenly attributed the “dead broke” comments to Clinton's book, calling them more than “just a little tone deaf” and saying they “should not have been in the book”: 

SCARBOROUGH: Obviously what caught everybody's attention is 'we had trouble paying mortgages on the houses.' What do you think? And she wrote that in a book. She wrote that in a book, so it wasn't even an off-the-cuff comment. What do you think?

BRZEZINSKI: I got to tell you, it should not have been in the book. Or it should have been framed very differently. I would have not gone there in the interview.

Yet Hillary Clinton did not reference mortgages on houses or similar comments regarding her family's financial situation in Hard Choices. Clinton brought up the issue in response to an interview question from Diane Sawyer.  In regard to the number of speaking events the Clintons participate in, Diane Sawyer asked, “It has been reported that you made 5 million? The president has made $100 million?” Hillary Clinton responded, “You have no reason to remember, but we came out of the White House not only dead broke, but in debt. We had no money when we got there, and we struggled to piece together the resources for mortgages for houses, for Chelsea's education. You know it was not easy.”
