Progressive Jewish Alliance and Jewish Funds for Justice released the following statement today:
For decades, Patrick Buchanan has been stoking the flames of hate. And after Patrick Buchanan's recent appearance on the self-described “pro-White” radio program The Political Cesspool, the time has come to say enough is enough. That's why we are joining the call for MSNBC to stop giving airtime to Pat Buchanan's bigotry. With the publication of his new book, “Suicide of a Superpower,” he speaks openly of his fears of American diversity, warning of a time when “whites may discover what it is like to ride in the back of the bus.” We are proud to join Media Matters, Color of Change, Human Rights Coalition, and others in asking MSNBC to stop giving Patrick Buchanan a national forum for his hate.
Stosh Cotler, PJA & JFSJ Executive Vice President added:
Each time Patrick Buchanan appears on MSNBC, the network legitimizes his extremist viewpoints, giving him a national platform from which to stoke the flames of hate. Our nation faces serious problems, which is why PJA & JFJS is speaking out now along with other groups working to create good jobs, prevent foreclosures, and strengthen communities. For Buchanan, tough times means upping the ante in the blame game, pointing his finger and spewing hate. We join our allies in saying, enough is enough. MSNBC, it's time to take Patrick Buchanan off your pay rolls. Patrick Buchanan belongs on the fringe with the fringe views -- including anti-Semitism, racism, homophobia, and Islamophobia -- that have earned him the label of “unrepentant bigot” from the Anti-Defamation League.
