Ron Fournier, who has headed the Associated Press Washington, D.C., bureau since 2008, is leaving to oversee the National Journal Group.

“Fournier, in the newly-created position, will oversee several D.C.-insider publications owned by Atlantic Media, including National Journal magazine, NationalJournal.com, The Hotline, Congress Daily and the Almanac of American Politics," Yahoo News stated. “Atlantic Media chairman David Bradley, in a statement, described Fournier as one of the 'handful of finest political reporters and editors who have worked Washington--maybe ever.'"

A.P. issued a statement on the move, declaring: “We wish Ron well in his new endeavor. He has been a strong leader of AP's comprehensive White House and Washington coverage. Many of his contributions will be carried on by the leaders in the Washington bureau, who will continue to provide a competitive news report that is unmatched in breaking news and enterprise reporting.”
