In an item posted online at mediamatters.org at 12:50 p.m. ET on August 10, Media Matters for America noted that National Review Online editor-at-large Jonah Goldberg, in his August 10 syndicated column, falsely claimed that CNN anchor Ed Henry characterized Robert D. Novak's August 4 outburst on CNN as “a ploy to avoid answering a question about his role in the Valerie Plame controversy.” Approximately 40 minutes later, Goldberg posted a correction on National Review Online's weblog, The Corner:

Media Matters correctly corrects me for saying that CNN anchor Ed Henry was “quick to claim” that Novak left the set because of the Plame issue. In an earlier draft of my column I said “many” quickly claimed and I changed it to Ed Henry at some point in the editing process. The articles I had in mind at the time, do not say what I remembered them saying. I regret the error and will ask the syndicate to issue a correction. My apologies to Henry and others.
