The New York Times has attached an “Editor's Note” to the archived version of a July 16 article by Times reporter Anne E. Kornblut, in which Kornblut falsely reported that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) had recently criticized her Democratic colleagues in Congress for “wasting time” and “for taking on issues that arouse conservatives and turn out Republican voters.” After Media Matters for America and others pointed out the central error in Kornblut's article -- that Clinton had been criticizing the Republican-led Congress, not her fellow Democrats -- the Times attached the “Editor's Note” to the original Web-only version of the article on July 18. But as ABC's The Note recently pointed out, the correction had been omitted from the version available in the TimesSelect archive. In addition to the omission from the archived version, no correction was included in the version of the article on Nexis, as Media Matters noted. Nexis has since added the “Editors Note.”
