MARK LEVIN (HOST): We're here, ladies and gentlemen, with our friend, good friend, Kevin Roberts, the president of the Heritage Foundation, one of the great think tanks in America, really is one of the great think tanks in — oh 2025, oh let me burn my house down I'm so worried about it. Kevin, how are you, my friend?
KEVIN ROBERTS (HERITAGE FOUNDATION): Man, I'm doing great. It's always wonderful when I am with you, just the best in the business. Thanks for everything you're doing.
LEVIN: Well, it's a great honor. Thank you and I want the people to know that you're going to be a major sponsor on our podcast and we're very, very proud of that. And Kevin, you guys are doing a fantastic job. When they were trying to take you guys out with Project 2025, tell me, what was that like, by the way?
ROBERTS: You know, ultimately, we're proud of the work. You know, I don't want to bury the lede, but for two or three months as the left succeeded in mischaracterizing it, I mean, literally everything they said, it wasn't fun. I mean, people threatened Heritage, they threatened to burn us down, all this kind of stuff, but I want to drive to a particular point.
Now, as we said in early 2025, and we see what President Trump and Vice President Vance are doing, and they deserve all the credit for that, right? They've assembled a tremendous cabinet. If we had even a tiny role in providing the plans and the research and the legal concepts for them returning the American dream to the American people, every bit of that nonsense that the left brought to our doorstep, and then some, was worth it.
I can tell you on behalf of all of my colleagues at Heritage, we're extraordinarily proud of our work, and I will also tell you, Mark, we're already starting Project 2029 because we are not tired of winning.
LEVIN: I love that. In other words you're not gonna get in the fetal position because of the left, that's what the left tries to do, right? Take people out and I guess this is the modern day wokeism.
ROBERTS: No, it's true. I, you know, as I told MSNBC, I've mentioned to the autocrats at Davos, be careful if you start a fight, if you pick a fight with a group of people, in this case, Heritage friends, including you, who will finish the fight, and we mean that in a figurative sense, it's a fight on behalf of the everyday American who's been forgotten by policymakers in Washington and New York and Brussels.
And if anything, even though Heritage every four years has done this project, it's motivated us to do this continually on a scale that involves every institution on the right who wants to be part of real change and ultimately, as the vice president said two weeks ago when he was at Heritage for a really special event, this is an effort, this revolution of common sense, that we're not going to be successful in over one year. We really have to be thinking in terms of a generation, 25 or 30 years to get this country back on track. We're grateful to, to play a small part in it.
