On the July 10 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio program, Michael Savage lashed out at Media Matters for America and falsely claimed that Media Matters “made up” the fact that he referred to a speech by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) as “Hitler dialogue.” In fact, Media Matters documented with transcript and audio that on April 23, Savage responded to a speech delivered by Clinton at Rutgers University by saying, “That's Hitler dialogue. [Nazi information minister Joseph] Goebbels would be proud of you, Hillary Clinton.”
Savage made the comment on July 10 while quoting from a Media Matters item noting his July 9 statement that “of all of the dictators in the past, you know the one Al Gore strikes me as [being] closest [to] is Mussolini -- sort of a non-racist, benign demagogue using global warming in an attempt to take over the world's economy and put it in his own hands and the hands of his cronies.” Savage read aloud from the item, and, after reading this quotation, said that Media Matters had done “a very good job transcribing me.” But Savage then responded to Media Matters' noting that Mussolini instituted a series of laws in 1938 targeting Jews during his time as Italy's dictator, saying: “We didn't talk about Jews. We talked about fascism and demagoguery.” Although Savage never mentioned “the Jews,” in addition to discussing “fascism” and “demagoguery,” he did say Mussolini was “non-racist,” as he had just admitted.
When Savage reached the part of the July 10 item that read: "[O]n April 23, [Savage] called a speech by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) 'Hitler dialogue,' " he responded by falsely asserting, “I never said that. That's a lie. That they made up.”
Savage also repeatedly attacked Media Matters, saying: “This is a group of gay Mafioso here. They have a real jones on for me.” He later added: “They make stuff up. They're a bunch of sickos. It's from the lifestyle that they lead; it's a death style.” In the past, Savage has called Media Matters "the homosexual Mafia" and "a gay smear sheet."
The Savage Nation reaches more than 8 million listeners each week, according to Talkers Magazine, making it the third most-listened-to talk radio show in the nation, behind only The Rush Limbaugh Show and The Sean Hannity Show.
From the July 10 broadcast of Talk Radio Network's The Savage Nation:
SAVAGE: Oh, Media Matters attacked me again? “Savage: Of all the dictators in the past, Al Gore closest to Mussolini.” It's true! “On the July 9 broadcast of his nationally syndicated -- ”
This is a group of gay Mafioso here. They have a real jones on for me.
“Michael Savage responded to a caller who described former Vice President Al Gore's efforts to raise awareness of global warming as 'passionate' by saying, 'Oh, I'm sure he's also passionate. There are many passionate individuals in history. Mussolini was passionate about bringing back fascism to Italy.' He added: 'Of all of the dictators in the past, you know the one Al Gore strikes me as being closest to is Mussolini -- sort of a non-racist, benign demagogue using global warming in an attempt to take over the world's economy and put it in his own hands and the hands of his cronies.' ”
You know something? I'm a genius. These people do a very good job of transcribing me, I got to tell you the truth. I -- this is really well-written. I'm a smart guy. If I read that, I'd say, “Who is this guy? I got to listen to him.”
Now they go into that he expelled Jews. We didn't talk about Jews. We talked about fascism and demagoguery. Now they leap already. Now they leap already.
“Savage made his comments during a discussion about the July 7 Live Earth concerts, a series of performances promoted by Gore and held worldwide to call attention to climate change,” says the idiots there.
Why don't they actually publish what I actually said, like when I talked about the latest scientific study that drilled two kilometers into the ice in Greenland -- 1.2 miles? They didn't discuss that part of it. They make stuff up. They're a bunch of sickos. It's from the lifestyle that they lead; it's a death style.
“On the June 12 broadcast of The Savage Nation, Savage called the progressive movement, quote, 'the same rabble that brought Hitler to power.' ” Hundred percent true. The progressive movement is the same rabble that brought Hitler to power. I agree a hundred percent.
“On April 23, he called a speech by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton 'Hitler dialogue.'” I never said that. That's a lie. That they made up. They make stuff up. They're sneaks; they can't help it. It's in their nature. That's why they do what they do. They see everything backwards, and they go against the very people who would defend them from death by the Islamists. They're suicidal by definition.
They're recording everything I'm saying. I'm doing this to torture them. As I talk, they're recording [unintelligible]. They got nothing to do but listen to the show. But I got to tell you the truth: Al Gore is a demagogue, Al Gore is a liar, and Al Gore is wrong scientifically. So I don't see the problem with this. I hope they publish this widely.
Nobody reads them but me. They try to slam me by reporting what I say and then distorting it, and they hope I read it on the air so people read their website, which some do, but no one else reads it.
But this is good -- I hope a lot of people read this. What did that have to do with Jewish students being expelled by Mussolini, I don't know, because I didn't talk about Jewish students being expelled by Mussolini. That's their insanity.
Anyway, that's what I have to live with: psychopaths watching everything I do. Without me, they have no reason to live.
