Donald Trump ally Roger Stone is urging Trump supporters to visit the hotel rooms of delegates at the Republican convention “to discuss” how they’re allegedly stealing the presidential nomination from Trump. Two years ago, Stone “attacked physically and verbally” when a reporter came to his door to interview him about a government tax lien against him.
In June 2014, WPLG investigative reporter Bob Norman went to “Stone's rented house in Broward County to ask him about a $1.5 million lien filed against him by the federal government alleging he's failed to pay income taxes.”
The Miami-based ABC affiliate then captured Stone on camera verbally and physically lashing out at the news crew. As Norman noted, “Stone, while sitting in a Jaguar in his driveway, clenched his teeth and struck out in an apparent attempt to knock down a camera held by Local 10 photographer Bob Palumbo. After Stone struck the camera he told Norman to leave his property. Shortly thereafter, Stone drove away flashing an obscene sign.” During the exchange, Norman told Stone, “You know that’s assault, right?”
Watch Norman’s June 10, 2014, report:
Norman reported two days later that Stone aimed “dirty tricks” at him with accusations that Norman was drunk and “wanted by police.”
Later that day, Stone fed his spin to a small Deerfield Beach blog which alleged that Norman “reeked of alcohol” and was “drunken” during his encounter with Stone. He's quoted in the blog post calling Norman a “psycho,” among several other loaded names. He also claimed Norman “snapped” and that he “accosted” his wife.
The video shows that it was Stone who lashed out at the camera and his wife, who tried to hit him with a car cover for his Jaguar.
After a letter from a Local 10 attorney, the blog post was taken down and retracted, but Stone does much of his name calling in Broward on the Broward Bugle, a campaign and propaganda website for Israel that he founded in 2012 with current BSO general counsel Ron Gunzburger.
Many people (including conservatives) have condemned Stone’s plan as reckless and potentially dangerous. Stone has claimed that he’s urged people to engage in “peaceful, nonviolent protest” against anti-Trump delegates.
