Limbaugh guest host Mark Belling kicked off the show by gushing over Glenn Beck's “Restoring Honor” rally on August 28, claiming that large rallies had always been a feature of the left, not the right. He ranted about this for a while, claiming that only the left has time to attend rallies and calling Beck's event “a political rally.” Belling later followed the party line, saying Beck “specifically said” it “wasn't political.”
After reading a full column by Charles Krauthammer, Belling complained that Democrats are facing a backlash, claiming that the tea partiers are tired of being calling bigots for their position on every issue. Eventually Belling shifted gears and talked about the importance of elections. Belling asserted that politicians only care about public opinion because that may translate into votes. He also discussed President Obama's attempt to restart the Middle East peace talks and wondered why Israel would participate. Belling also ridiculed Obama's concern with the unprecedented opposition by Senate Republicans to nearly every piece of legislation.
