Limbaugh fill-in Mark Davis -- in an apparent effort to be named most tiresome sub named Mark -- spent much of today's show discussing primary elections happening throughout the country. Davis dropped tidbits of wisdom throughout the show such as encouraging listeners to vote for “the most conservative candidate that can win” and revealing that framing a political argument the right way can help a politician win an election. Near the end of the show, Davis recounted a “moment of possible genius” offered by Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels at a Heritage Foundation event in Washington, D.C., today, in which Daniels suggested a twist on Barack Obama's 2008 campaign slogan. Rather than “Change you can believe in,” Davis said Daniels suggested that Republicans should go with “Change that believes in you.” I guess “genius” doesn't mean what it used to.
During the second hour, Davis discussed President Obama's remarks about finding out “whose ass to kick” over the BP oil spill. Before playing what he called the “audio of the day” of Obama's “potty mouth,” Davis said the president was "going a little gangsta for us." Davis' remark echoed a headline from the Drudge Report that Obama was going "street." After a break, Davis explained that he found Obama's comments “off-putting” because they were "like Urkel channeling Jay-Z." Great.
Davis took calls throughout the show and was more than willing to entertain conspiracy theories. When a caller ventured into what he said was “conspiracy theory territory,” stating that Obama wants the Gulf oil spill to last as long as possible to damage BP and turn people against the oil industry, Davis admonished the caller that this was not a conspiracy theory but rather was "thoroughly rational analysis." Davis added that the Obama administration “hates oil so much that at least part of them loves every day of this spill because it is oil's Three Mile Island.” Davis later told another caller that it would be a "lie" for a Republican to call “illegal aliens” undocumented immigrants.
