In the wake of the latest damaging testimony against President Donald Trump in the House impeachment inquiry — this time from former National Security Council staffer Fiona Hill — some on the right are choosing to dismiss her testimony by attacking her British accent and immigrant status.
Hill testified Thursday about a diverse range of topics, from the Trump administration’s attempts to pressure the Ukrainian government into launching an investigation of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, to the continued threat that Russia poses from injecting falsehoods into democratic elections.
On the November 21 edition of his radio show, Rush Limbaugh played a clip of Hill’s testimony followed by a mocking imitation of her British accent — and not even a good imitation in any sense, perhaps sounding more like the comedic German accent of the character Sgt. Schultz from Hogan’s Heroes.
“‘I’m appearing today as a facts witness, I take with prides,’” Limbaugh said. “Love the way these Brits speak. Their long T’s and D’s. ‘I’m a facts witness. I takes greats prides.’”
