Rush Limbaugh spent much of his show today ranting about the “hoax” of environmentalism, and rehashing old (and debunked) myths about the Gulf oil spill: claiming that the Obama administration "did nothing for 50 days" after the spill, that oil companies drill in deep water because the “nutcases” won't let them drill closer, and that it was "illegal" for Obama to reinstate a drilling moratorium after a federal judge granted an injection for an earlier iteration of the moratorium. Rush kept this old material fresh by peppering it with some new paranoid theories, claiming that the White House had been "keeping the media away from the Gulf" because “there was no disaster,” and that “everybody on the left wanted” the oil spill in order to "advance their anti-capitalist agenda."
When not ranting about the oil spill, Rush took a beating from a caller for repeatedly calling Obama a man-child, aired a parody in which Bin Laden laughed about the approval of the Islamic cultural center near Ground Zero, ranted about Dave Weigel's Slate column asking if the GOP will “play the race card on Rangel and Waters,” made a joke about Elena Kagan and softball, and asserted: “I am not a racist. I dislike Mr. Obama's white half just as much as I dislike his black half.”
