SEAN HANNITY (HOST): A warning to those on the left, those of you that are obsessed, those of you that believe with religious fervor in this eco-socialist, Marxist, statist utopia under the Green New Deal, it's not going to end well. Pay attention to what's happening in California. You know, free universal health care, day care, childcare, guaranteed healthy food and housing and retirement, everything taking care of. Cradle to grave, womb to the tomb. College tuition, universal basic income, dedication to putting CO2 emissions above all else. It might sound alarming still to some of you.
Look at California, it is a disaster. You know, take a look at the state. The so-called progressive, one-party deep blue state. They have been pursuing their own version of the Green New Deal for many, many years now. They spent $31 billion a year only on social welfare programs. The states $322 billion budget also funded some fire prevention and water projects, none of them have been completed because of permitting, environmental reviews. It was, what? Eleven years ago California broke ground on a $100 billion high-speed rail system, it's nowhere near completion. The first section of tracks has not even been finished.
In LA, throughout the state, billions and billions are also spent on DEI programs. Billions more on green energy projects like LA's 800 electric street sweepers. They cost 800 grand a piece. At the very same time, the city can find enough money for its fire department to fund them.
