Sean Hannity attacked President Obama's job creation record by falsely claiming that the U.S. economy is “losing 400,000 jobs a month.” In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimated that since the beginning of 2012 “employment growth has averaged 151,000 per month,” with 163,000 jobs created in July. In 2011, the economy similarly added an average of 153,000 jobs every month.
On his radio show, Hannity accused Democrats of demonizing Republicans on the economy because “Obama hasn't done a good job.” As evidence, Hannity claimed “we're losing 400,000 jobs a month”:
Contrary to Hannity's claim, in its May 2012 report, the Congressional Budget Office estimated that between 200,000 and 1.5 million jobs were created as a direct result of the stimulus in the first quarter of 2012 alone.
This is not the first time Hannity has employed falsehoods about job rates and the economy. He has pushed the "deeply misleading" myth that millions of jobs were lost under President Obama, falsely claimed that Obama was responsible for making black unemployment worse, and continues to insist “You cannot make the case with a straight face that this economy has gotten better under this president.”
In reality, housing prices are going back up and pending home sales have risen "to their highest level in more than two years in July." Both are marks of an improving economy.
