During an interview with Sean Hannity, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said that Democrats are “cheering” for a government shutdown and “There's been no talk about shutting the government down on our side.” Boehner must not watch Fox News much.
Just yesterday, Hannity said: "[I]f Republicans want to put the brakes on, and they say right now is the time. We have got to stop this reckless spending. They're not going to raise the debt ceiling unless they get the cuts they want. Is that a shutdown worth having?" Fox Business host Stuart Varney responded: “I think the president thinks that if the Republicans force a shutdown, that's good for the president, and good for Democrats. I think that's a political miscalculation this time around.”
And last month, Dick Morris went on Fox's The O'Reilly Factor and called for a government shutdown for a year if President Obama doesn't agree to defund health care reform. Morris has promoted a shutdown again and again, as has his Fox News colleague, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
