Swift Boat Veterans for Truth was a political organization founded in 2004 to oppose Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry’s run for the White House. The organization’s smear campaign against Kerry’s Vietnam war service record was so dishonest that “swift boating” later became a synonym for unfair or false political attacks.
