Extremist radio host Pete Santilli invoked a monologue from Fox host Tucker Carlson to call on his audience to “rise up” and said, “We must stand and literally put our lives on the line for a free and fair election. Anybody who stands between us and a free and fair election shall perish.”

Building off Carlson’s monologue, Santilli said “we need to defend our country from what’s happening here” and that Carlson won’t “call for 100 million people to take up arms to defend our nation,” but that he will. Santilli added, “At what point do we take everything that Tucker goes over every single night and start recognizing that we need a leader to get a bunch of people organized to put down this rabid communist dog?” At other points during the show, Santilli predicted future violence between Americans and the government, saying, “I’m going to hereby declare, on this day, on January 14, 2022, it’s not going to end peacefully.”

The radio host has a history of using his show to call for violence. In 2014, he rallied his listeners to flock to Cliven Bundy’s ranch and “fight to the death.” Santilli ultimately pled guilty to a conspiracy charge and spent a total of 14 months in custody. In 2013, Santilli called for violence if a trucker protest, which he was the spokesman for, failed. He was also charged in 2016 for broadcasting his show live from the occupation of the Malheur wildlife refuge, but charges were ultimately dismissed. 

Santilli has made headlines for other unhinged rants, including repeatedly declaring he wanted to shoot former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the vagina and kill President Barack Obama and the Bush family. Santilli and other anti-government extremists have invoked Carlson before, lauding him for pushing the conspiracy theory that FBI was involved in instigating the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
