A mob of angry Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6, and in their wake, many right-wing media figures defended the insurrectionists. 

Tucker Carlson, for instance, who was more than willing to condemn Black Lives Matter activists in the summer of 2020 following the police killings of George Floyd and Brianna Taylor, has already twisted the narrative to attack Democrats for “stripping” Americans of their “rights.” 

But Carlson’s histrionics from 2020 are far more applicable to the reality of the Trumpist insurrection.
