Did guest White House Chef Rick Bayless of Chicago, who is whipping up tonight's Mexican-themed cuisine for the state dinner honoring Mexican President Felipe Calderon, commit a protocol error by tweeting about the event from the White House kitchen?
Chicago Sun-Times scribe Lynn Sweet writes today that Bayless was tweeting about everything from his arrival in D.C. to the menu, prompting the White House to ask him to stop.
" ... Bayless ... was Twittering from the White House kitchen about today's Obama White House state dinner honoring Mexican President Felipe Calderon and his wife, Margarita Zavala. Until the Tweets stopped. The White House kitchen is for cooking, not Tweeting," Sweet wrote.
A look at his Twitter feed found that Bayless had been offering details of his journey: “Thanks 2 the 100s of well wishers!” he tweeted Tuesday. “Ready 4 day 2 n rather small White House kitchen.Chef was challenged by some ingred, but last arrive 2day.”
But Bayless denied in a tweet today the accusation by Sweet that he had tweeted from the White House kitchen, stating: “Lynn Sweet @ Sun Times made up this very offensive story.I NEVER Tweet from WH, which I KNOW is not permitted.Apology?”
I don't know, can you tweet a correction?
