New Hampshire Republican Senate nominee and right-wing commentator Don Bolduc last year endorsed a far-right host’s claims that the results of the 2020 election needs to be “thrown out” and the U.S. will “never have another honest election again” if Dominion Voting Systems is involved. Bolduc told the host that election fraud “definitively changed the results of the elections,” and “we can’t stand for that.”
Right-wing media have frequently and falsely claimed that Dominion Voting Systems fraudulently swung the election to President Joe Biden.
The segment also featured violent rhetoric and conspiracy theories related to the January 6 insurrection, with host Doc Greene stating: “We did scare the hell out of the Democrats when we did that. But the problem is, we were unarmed.” Bolduc replied by saying the United States is in a situation that “our Founding Fathers warned us against.”
Bolduc is a right-wing commentator and retired Army brigadier general who has repeatedly appeared on Fox News. Media Matters recently reported that Bolduc hosted right-wing commentator and QAnon conspiracy theorist Mike Flynn for a campaign event last year, with Flynn arguing that the presidency had been “stolen” in a “coup,” claiming that “we're being marched” to Nazi death camps, and stating that unlike Holocaust victims, he “would never get on that train.”
Bolduc is an election denier who said in an August debate: “I signed a letter with 120 other generals and admirals saying that Donald Trump won the election and, damn it, I stand by [it].” He has attempted to clean up his election denialism now that he’s the nominee, telling Fox News yesterday that “the election was not stolen” and “unfortunately, President Biden is the legitimate president of this country.” Bolduc still falsely claimed in the interview that there was election fraud.
While Bolduc is now admitting the election was legitimate, he spent time in previous media appearances falsely claiming that “fraud” “changed the results of the elections” and agreeing that the 2020 election should be “thrown out.”
Bolduc appeared on the February 1, 2021, edition of the online-based program The Amazing Doc Greene Show. During the interview, Greene said that unless “we burn this Dominion Voting System,” the country will “never have another honest election again.”
Bolduc responded by agreeing:
DON BOLDUC (REPUBLICAN SENATE NOMINEE): No, you're absolutely right. And, you know, I mean, it is pervasive. The fraud and, you know, the extension of the mail-in voting also contributed to that. You know, any foreign country that has anything to do with counting our votes, has anything to do with owning the machines or any of that stuff, that just has to be done away with. And like you say, lock, stock, and barrel. You're absolutely right. And if we don't do that, we won't see a fair election. And I got to be honest with you, you know, New Hampshire isn't any different than any other state that experienced fraud.
Greene then reiterated that unless they fix supposed problems, he doesn’t think “we can ever have an honest election again” and said, “We've got to force both parties to completely flush their voter registration system, require everyone to re-register with a bona fide, verifiable picture ID. And then we've got to go to a paper ballot system” with individual serial numbers.
Bolduc responded by again agreeing with him, stating: “I agree with you 100% on that. And, you know, we saw it here and the problem that we have here in New Hampshire is that we have a governor, we have a GOP chairman right now that are denying — and a secretary of state that is denying we have a voter fraud issue. We have problems with college students here voting. We have problems obviously with the Dominion issue, the AccuVote.”
Bolduc then said: “Fraud was an issue in the election here in New Hampshire, as was the case in many other places in the country. And it definitively changed the results of the elections, as we know, in many ways, and we can't stand for that.”
Greene continued:
DOC GREENE (HOST): If we don't throw out this whole voting system, general, there is not going to be another free election in the United States. And part of that is once you’ve thrown it out and Donald Trump becomes the president of the United States, because he won with 70% of the vote in a landslide, we're not going to be able to fix it unless we do anything else. So, quite frankly, I am now, I'm militant about this, general. I think that we have got to quit laying down and just taking it. And we've got to fight. I mean, we've really got to fight if we're going to turn this thing around. This last election has to be thrown out. I'm not accepting it.
Bolduc again agreed, saying: “I agree 100%. We cannot allow anything like this to stand, and we certainly have to work, you know, I think two lanes here. We’ve got to work the lane that, you know, you know, this election, fraudulent election took place in, and then we’ve got to work the second lane, which is not allowing it to happen in the future. We got a short timeline before the 2022 elections and this is hugely important.”
Greene and Bolduc also discussed the January 6 insurrection:
DOC GREENE (HOST): We saw in the Capitol what happens when only the police have guns. Ashli Babbitt, if that really was her name and if she really was killed, she was unarmed in the Capitol and she was allegedly shot to death by an unknown person inside the Capitol who appeared to be perhaps Secret Service, from what I could tell. But we don't know exactly who that person was. But the point is a million people converged on Washington, D.C. We did scare the hell out of the Democrats when we did that. But the problem is, we were unarmed. We're not allowed to be armed, and we were completely outgunned. So consequently, they had their way with us and they didn't listen to anything we said. They just pushed through all this garbage. So, Gen. Bolduc, I have ultimate respect for you, but I'm seriously worried about our republic if we don't take some dramatic action soon.
DON BOLDUC (REPUBLICAN SENATE NOMINEE): I am worried about it as well. Obviously, it's why I'm running.
Bolduc added: “It is exactly what, you know, our Founding Fathers warned us against. And we're here today in 2021, and we’ve got to reverse this.”
