It looks like The Washington Post is taking on its nearby rival Politico with a political page of its own.
PostPolitics.com launched today with a mix of blogs, stories and links to other outlets -- even to Politico itself.
Chris Cillizza, who runs the popular Post blog The Fix, is the managing editor for the new Post site, according to The New York Times, which states: “The bulk of the coverage on PostPolitics, however, will come from the rest of the paper's staff, whose political coverage - or coverage that touches on a political issue, such as some business news - will be aggregated on the site.”
Meanwhile, Politico founder Albritton Communications is creating a local D.C. news site that will compete with the Post. TBD.com has former Post Web guru Jim Brady on board and is likely to spark something of a local news battle, if it hasn't already.
