After shake-ups in the past year that have included ousting its editor, and most recently its publisher, The Washington Times is now reportedly up for sale.
The New York Times reports that New World Communications, part of the Unification Church, is shopping the money-losing daily.
The New York Times stated: “Nicholas Chiaia, one of the paper's two-member board, said in a statement on Thursday that the company had 'recently entered into discussions with a number of parties interested in either purchasing or partnering with The Washington Times.' The discussions, he said, are 'part of a strategic effort to ensure that the newspaper remains sustainable.'”
Meanwhile, The Washington Post this weekend reported that John Solomon, the former Washington Times editor who resigned last fall, was among those interested in buying the paper.
