STEVE DOOCY (CO-HOST): When the news broke yesterday at 4:14 in the afternoon — via e-mail rather than a press conference or anything like that, Joe — The New York Times tweeted this out. “Breaking News: Sen. Kamala Harris of California is Joe Biden's pick for vice president. A pragmatic moderate, she is the first Black woman on a major party ticket.” Is she a pragmatic moderate? Is that true?
BEN SHAPIRO (CONSERVATIVE COMMENTATOR): No. Trojan Horse Harris is not in fact a pragmatic moderate. She is rated one of the most leftist senators in the entire United States Senate. She votes with Bernie Sanders 92% of the time. She originally endorsed Medicare For All, she's endorsed the Green New Deal. She has decided that she would like to ban fracking — we'll see how that goes for President — for Vice President Biden in Pennsylvania. She has suggested she wants to ban plastic straws, she says that she wants to ban assault weapons by executive order — which is unconstitutional, but she laughed about that in open debate. She is obviously an extraordinarily extreme candidate.
…
AINSLEY EARHARDT (CO-HOST): So, how far left is this party willing to go once he is in office?
SHAPIRO: As far left as humanly possible. Joe Biden is a career politician who's taken a variety of positions on a variety of issues, and at this point, he's essentially Weekend at Bernie-ing this thing. I mean, they've got him on a gurney, and they're just wheeling him out there, hoping that he can serve as a Trojan Horse for Kamala Harris.
I mean, at this point everybody understands that he is just a vehicle for whatever the Democratic Party is going to become in post-Biden era. Biden himself has said he is a transitional figure. Kamala Harris understands this, everybody understands this. The President of the United States should be openly campaigning on the fact that Joe Biden will probably not be around to finish at least a second term, and probably not even a first term. This is what most Americans already believe. This is now Trump versus Harris, and it should be Trump versus Harris.
