Thanks to Breitbart's Big Journalism for disproving its own nonsense. Or, paging Liberty Chick

It just saves us so much time when Andrew Breitbart's bloggers inadvertently knock down their own conspiracy theories.

The latest came from “Liberty Chick,” who apparently stays up late at night dreaming up whodunits about Media Matters. (i.e. SEIU paid us off for blogging about the Kenneth Gladney non-story. Or something). The blogger's latest revolves around the fact that Media Matters has often linked to the work of David Weigel, who until recently covered the conservative movement beat for the Washington Post. (FYI, Since Friday, Big Journalism has posted eight separate items about Weigel's Post resignation. Obsessed much?)

Writes Liberty Chick:

Media Matters frequently refers to David Weigel's posts as a backup source, and has done so for quite some time. It is this relationship that has always given me pause in relying upon Weigel's information entirely.

Liberty Chick reads all sorts of significance into that linkage. Perhaps, she suggests, there's been “collaboration” between Weigel and Media Matters. Maybe it's been some sort of nefarious plot backed by (yep) George Soros!

But keep in mind, Breitbart's blogger has always been suspicious of Weigel's writings. Why? Because Media Matters has frequently referred to his posts as a backup source.

Punch line? Big Journalism has also frequently referred to David Weigel's posts as a backup source. They did so here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here.

Question: Did Soros get to Breitbart, too?

Meanwhile, Liberty Chick claims that Media Matters often referred to Weigel as “as the sort of ”conservative voice of reason" – the source that allows George Soros' paid hacks and non-entities to imply, “Look, see? Even your own guy doesn't support you; even your own guy has this to say about it…”"

Naturally, the Breitbart bloggers provides no evidence of that. My guess is she left out the evidence because there is none. As far as I can tell, Media Matters has routinely referred to Weigel as a journalist. Period.

As in:

From an April 27 post on David Weigel's Washington Post blog Right Now:

And:

Lots of chatter about a Washington Independent article in which David Weigel, reporting from the Tea Party convention...

And:

As David Weigel of The Washington Independent reported...

And:

As Dave Weigel notes...

I don't see where Media Matters regularly referred to Weigel “as the sort of ”conservative voice of reason." Liberty Chick simply made that part up. In other words, she manufactured the entire basis of her disjointed Media Matters attack.

Weird, right? Then again, she does blog for Breitbart...
