GOP-backed Senate nominee and misogynistic host agree that marrying an “educated” woman is a bad idea

Minnesota Republicans have been backing the U.S. Senate campaign of right-wing commentator Royce White. He recently appeared on the show of an extreme misogynist and told him that marrying “an educated woman statistically would probably not be a good idea.”

White is a podcaster and regular guest (and recent guest host) on Sandy Hook conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ show. Jones and former Trump adviser Steve Bannon have both backed White’s campaign. White has a history of making extremist remarks, including hurling an anti-LGBTQ slur, pushing 9/11 conspiracy theories, and attacking women. 

He did a bizarre interview with host Jesse Lee Peterson on the November 1 edition of Peterson’s streaming show The Fallen State. Peterson is a virulent misogynist who has said that allowing women to vote was “one of the greatest mistakes America made.”

During a discussion about women, Peterson said that he advises men not to marry “women who are educated because educated women do not make for good wives and mothers. Do you agree with that?” 

After some discussion, White concluded that marrying “an educated woman statistically would probably not be a good idea” because they are supposedly “more likely to divorce men than women who aren't traditionally educated.” According to one study by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, “Women with a bachelor’s degree or higher were less likely to divorce.”

JESSE LEE PETERSON: I tell men not to marry women with — women who are educated because educated women do not make for good wives and mothers. Do you agree with that?  

WHITE: That educated women don't make for good wives? You mean, you mean in the traditional sense, like educated in school?  

PETERSON: Yes.

WHITE: Yeah. Because, you know, if you go to the church, then that's a form of education as well.

PETERSON: Right. You shouldn’t marry one of those either. 

WHITE: What, that was educated in the church?

PETERSON: Right.

WHITE: I actually say women who are educated in scripture are probably healthy, healthy wives, that they have a real education in scripture. And look, again — 

PETERSON: No, women who are educated with the Bible are some of the worst wives —

WHITE: In some cases. No doubt. No doubt. No doubt. But I would say, do they make good wives, educated women? Again, I go back to the statistics because they help me. You know, there are exceptions. I would say there are certain scenarios and circumstances. But overall, educated women are much more likely to divorce men than women who aren't traditionally educated. So I guess that tells a large part of the story right there. If you're a man who wants to get married and end up divorced, an educated woman statistically would probably not be a good idea.

In a separate interview, Peterson hosted Republican North Carolina U.S. House nominee Addul Ali in which the two made misogynistic statements about women holding leadership positions.
