STEVE DOOCY (CO-HOST): You have known him for a very long time, and now he finds himself in great legal peril because he did not turn that — Ainsley was making this point a little while ago to Kash Patel — why didn't he just give the stuff back?
GERALDO RIVERA (THE FIVE CO-HOST): Why didn't he just give the stuff back, indeed? It was dumb, it was arrogant, and it was borderline illegal. What it was not is appropriate as a basis for a seven-count federal indictment against the president, the former president of the United States for the first time in the history of our republic. This is like you didn't give your library book back, alright, you're going to get scolded. So you send the cops to get you to comply with the return to the National Archive? It really is preposterous Steve, and I'm very upset about it. I think that it is an attempt, whether conscious or unconscious, to affect the election of 2024. It will not, I believe, affect his standing, he may still be running for president as an indicted person, or even a convicted person, because there is nothing in the Constitution of the United States that bars a person under indictment or even a federal convict from running for president.

RIVERA: I believe that if you want to beat Donald Trump, you've got to beat him at the ballot box, you can't beat him with a case with the New York County district attorney 34 counts on Stormy Daniels. You can't beat him, I believe, on a library book that was overdue.
