LAURA INGRAHAM (HOST): And the conversation here in the United States quickly turned to why Newt Gingrich is wrong for saying what he said about the Sharia. It's unbelievable.
MARK KRIKORIAN: The thing is, see the thing is -- I mean I've actually written at National Review almost pretty much exactly the same thing Newt just said, which is that Trump when he says, “Well let’s block all the Muslims,” that's kind of bar stool talk. If somebody says, “Hey I’m a Muslim,” that's not a reason enough to keep them out. The question is, do you believe in the political parts of Islam? Do you believe in the things that are basically contrary to our constitutional order, and that's what we need to ask people.

INGRAHAM: I’m to the right of you on this. I think we can’t -- I think we cannot let anyone into this country at this point from any terror point in the world. We have no ability to really vet them. Even Democrats I heard on television, some Democrats last night saying that. We have no ability to really trust vetting. It's not like there’s a police databank that we can consult in Syria to find out, well are they with these rebels, or that rebels, or do they have sympathies with -- we’re not able to do that. So again, I think all of this is kind of -- this all kind of academic talk. “Well we're going to” -- it reminds me of immigration reform. “We’re to make them pay a fine, back taxes,” none of that's going to happen, OK? None of it's going to happen, and these tests don't, ultimately don’t matter. We just cannot put our security at risk. And then meanwhile we’re telling American citizens, “Oh, well you're just going to have less freedom. You’re going to have less freedom so we can feel less guilty and let everyone come into the country from all over the world.” I think that’s ridiculous. We shouldn't give up freedom for their false promises of security
