Reporter Reassigned to Mailroom Still There

I first wrote about longtime reporter Jason Jett of The Star-Ledger being reassigned to the mailroom more than a year ago. Jett, a 30-plus year veteran of the staff, declined one of the many buyouts offered by the paper in late 2008, so he was sent to the sort-and-deliver room.

Richard Prince of the Maynard Institute's Journal-isms site, reports Jett remains on the mail gig and likes it.

“It's not as bad as it's been made out to be,” Jett told Journal-isms, which noted: “In fact, two weeks ago, Jett was the proud recipient of a New Jersey Minority Achiever award from the YMCA. He was nominated by his supervisor at the Star-Ledger.”

Still, talented reporters like him should be on the beat, not on the mail route.
